Lesson series
Creating strong, functional, and esthetic posterior provisionals is a critical skill in restorative dentistry. This course is designed to equip dental assistants and clinical team members with the knowledge and hands-on techniques necessary to fabricate posterior provisional crowns and bridges that protect preparations, maintain occlusion, and support gingival health. Through step-by-step instruction, participants will learn material selection, matrix techniques, occlusal adjustments, troubleshooting strategies, and real-world clinical tips for efficiency and accuracy. By elevating provisional skills, attendees will enhance chairside value and contribute to predictable final restorative outcomes.

In Your Box

During this live Zoom session, participants will follow a detailed, step-by-step demonstration on fabricating and refining posterior provisionals that provide proper occlusion, contact, and durability. We will begin with an overview of required materials, matrices, and bis-acrylic systems, then move into live demonstration of tooth preparation, provisional fabrication, marginal sealing, occlusal anatomy, and contact stabilization. Each stage—from carving cusp anatomy to adjusting occlusion and polishing for strength—will be shown up close with pauses for questions and clinical clarification. Troubleshooting pearls will be integrated throughout, including how to manage high occlusion, open contacts, fractures, and provisional loosening. Attendees are encouraged to practice alongside using typodonts or models for a fully interactive learning experience. By the end of the session, participants will be confident in creating posterior provisionals that protect the preparation, support function, and uphold the standard of care until final restoration delivery
